Part of the NFA collections is determined for trade use, thus use beyond common archival materials handling. Their range is defined legislatively, the materials in question are traded exclusively by NFA, based on the set property right or as the case may be the title to original carriers. NFA has rights to the Czech films made till the end of 1964.

The NFA trade department ensures contractually and organizationally the provision of NFA materials to the interested persons from the ranks of the specialized, professional and laic general public. The range of applicants is very wide and various, starting with national and regional televisions and DVD carriers publishers, going on to film productions, professional and amateur documentarists, state institutions, towns and communities (municipalities), representative offices, museums, theatres, universities and schools, civic associations, film festivals and cine-meetings up to private applicants and many other commercial and public subjects; that all both from the Czech Republic and the whole world.

Though the orders being processed in NFA differ a lot as far as content is concerned, the following categories may be set approximately:

  • Providing film material and the license for professional use at the production of compilation films (documents, featured films, student films) and their dissemination;
  • Providing whole films and the license for use to television broadcast operators and publishers of DVD carriers;
  • Providing film material and the license for use for presentations within exhibitions, permanent exhibitions, educational events, events for general public etc.;
