In the department of written records are stored funds of Czech film institutions and Czech personal funds. In main evidence of the National archival heritage has NFA 84 funds of Czech film institutions and 67 personal funds of Czech celebrities.
Funds of Czech film institutions can be divided into two groups. First group contains archival materials (almost solely written documents) from activities of film production and distribution companies and professional associations from the cinematography branch till 1945.
Second group which also contains almost solely written materials are funds of Czech institutions of nationalized cinematography after 1945. These funds are still unprocessed and are not accessible. Funds of Czech film institutions took over the NFA as unprocessed from the company archive of the Central directory of the Czechoslovak state film in the time of its liquidation in 90 ' of the 20th century. NFA so de facto saved these unique complexes of archival materials before destruction.
Czech personal funds which sometimes contain miscellaneous material (written documents, photographs, clippings, drawings etc.) are from estate of actors, directors, cameramen, publicists and other personalities from the cinematography branch. Personal funds are gained by purchase or in a form of gifts.
